Speaker 1:

But in case you fail to notice, there are those around you maybe co-workers, friends, relatives of yours that don't operate that way. They move quickly on ideas, ask for what they want with confidence, start new ventures, expand their businesses and always seem to be on their next long weekend right. These people may not be smarter, richer, luckier or more connected than you. They do not possess any other natural skills, talents or blessings than the rest of us. So what the hell is the deal? What gives? Why is it like this? Well, it's really quite simple. They have done one small thing you haven't. They have mastered the inner world, their inner game. They have full control of their thoughts, and your thoughts dictate your actions and your actions drive your results.

Speaker 1:

Today we're going to take a look at the intricacies of your inner world and how it influences your thoughts, actions and, ultimately, your results. So grab your thinking caps and let's get going. Ever have a fantastic idea for a product or a service that you've never seen before, or a new avenue to grow your business, or a new way of doing something that seems like a perfect solution to a need or a problem you've recently experienced, maybe to shut it down within minutes with thoughts like someone's probably already thought of this, or already invented this product or tried this new service, or I could never do something like that, or I could never sell it, even if I could figure out how to produce it, or a million other self-defeating thoughts. Or maybe you just decided that's not something I could do. Maybe you've talked to yourself out of asking for a well-deserved raise or promotion at work, or maybe asking that guy or girl you really liked out on a date, or starting a new project that you're interested in. How about something as simple as planning a quick getaway trip somewhere warm and sunny? You get all excited for a minute or two, only to turn around and make up all the reasons not to you talk yourself right out of it or, worse yet, you let somebody else talk you out of it.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a mental rut, constantly battling self-doubt and negative thoughts? Well, you're not alone. Many of us grapple with our inner demons on a daily basis. But here's the good news you have the power to take control of your inner world and steer it in the direction of success and fulfillment If it makes you feel any better. Most people have done and continue to do the same thing. Hell, I can't count how many times I've done that.

Speaker 1:

Throughout my life. I've had hundreds of ideas for cool new products or types of services that will fill a need out there, only to kill it off with self-doubt even before I give it a chance to go In a past. I've walked right past people I wanted to connect with and then let my mind justify why it was better that I walked by. And I don't even want to think of all the little mini vacations I started to plan no doubt deserved and could have afforded. But let my thoughts talk me out of it. I'm quite sure my dermatologist is the only one happy about those things, but in case you fail to notice, there are those around you maybe coworkers, friends, relatives of yours that don't operate that way. They move quickly on ideas, ask for what they want with confidence, start new ventures, expand their businesses and always seem to be on their next long weekend right.

Speaker 1:

These people may not be smarter, richer, luckier or more connected than you. They do not possess any other natural skills, talents or blessings than the rest of us. So what the hell's the deal? What gives? Why is it like this? Well, it's really quite simple. They have done one small thing you haven't. They have mastered the inner world, their inner game. They have full control of their thoughts, and your thoughts dictate your actions and your actions drive your results, no matter who you are, where you are or what you do.

Speaker 1:

Every single one of us has two worlds that influence our lives what we do or don't, what pleasure we enjoy or don't, our relationships, our health, our success, what we experience in our lives the outer world and the inner world. One we have almost no control over, maybe just a slight bit of influence, but that's the outer world and, realistically, almost complete control over the more important one, the inner world. The world around us will constantly have circumstances that directly affect us, be it challenging weather like earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, floods, wildfires. There are conflicts, wars and violences always brewing in several parts of the world, political twists and turns that may affect what we can or can't do, large and small companies being bought and sold out every single day that may affect a job or eliminate our jobs, terminal illnesses and death that take our loved ones from us way too soon, and a million other small things that are a hundred percent out of our control. It frustrates us, makes us mad and causes great losses, breaks our hearts and can force us out of our comfort zones. That is the outer world we have to operate in. Whatever happens happens. You can't change it or stop it, it just happens. Life is tough, but it teaches us lessons, makes us stronger with every single struggle we overcome, and, although it puts great stress on our lives at times, it is not what controls our lives. No, that is still up to us. These are just the opportunities for change and growth that we're presented with.

Speaker 1:

What happens next is really up to each one of us, and this is where we cross over to the other world, the inner world, that six inches of gray matter between our ears. This is the place where we take the input or stimulus from what the world throws at us and use it either to propel us or to paralyze us. It's our thoughts, what we choose to think, that makes that decision. The inner world, our thinking. Whether we move forward or shrink and retreat, is influenced by a few key factors.

Speaker 1:

Number one your standards, your history and routines. Number two your physicality, your health, your energy, your drive. Number three your environment, your inputs and the people you surround yourself with. Once you understand how and why these influence your thoughts, you will gain better abilities to use them to your advantage. Number one raise your standards. Your standards are what's acceptable to you, how you live your life, what is important, the shoulds and musts, the cants and won'ts that dictate your actions, how you are raised, your personal history and your routines that are part of your days. If you're looking for a competitive edge for your business or a more effective jumpstart to your personal development in 2024, I'll make your first step super simple.

Speaker 1:

It is a fact that an incredible number of the most successful business owners nearly half of the Fortune 500 companies, top running professional athletes, entertainers and industry leaders like Microsoft's Bill Gates, former President Bill Clinton, richard Branson, amazon's Jeff Bezos and Salesforce's Mark Benioff all have one thing in common they all have at least one coach, and some have several that they work with on a consistent basis. Some of that helps guide, mentor and support them, challenge them, help them set and achieve goals that move them forward, and then hold them accountable to follow through driving personal and professional growth. Working with a coach has many substantial benefits. Just for an example, 80% of coaching clients report improved self-esteem or self-confidence thanks to coaching. 99% of individuals and companies that hire a coach report being very satisfied and 96% would do it again. If, deep down, you know it's time to make those improvements in your business, your personal life, that you've kicked down the road year after year. If you're tired of knowing there's a better version of you waiting to shine, but unsure of how to bring that version to light. If you're tired of wanting to enjoy a more successful business but not sure how to start. And if you don't wanna go another 12 months without better results, but you don't wanna go it alone, then take the first step. It's super simple. Speaker 1:

If your standards are things like I don't challenge authority, I don't bend the rules, I don't ask for something I probably don't deserve, then you've severely limited your chances of pushing some boundaries a bit. For you to grow. Ask for a raise of promotion. You'll just make yourself comfortable with what you've been getting or what you're given. If part of your history contains things like being romantically shunned by someone in your past or maybe being criticized for trying to start your own business, maybe you've failed on your first couple of attempts. Your own self-doubting thoughts will tap the brakes when you start those entertaining thoughts of maybe asking somebody out or making a new connection or trying something new. Mastering your intergame means you don't have to let your old, negative thoughts control your ability to make new choices going forward. You don't have to let your history dictate your future. You can raise your standards at any time. It is 100% up to you.

Speaker 1:

Number two prioritizing your physical well-being. Your physicality is your current state of health, fitness, vitality and energy. If you're out of shape or have low energy, it can be very difficult to make decisions, to make positive changes or do something new. It takes effort and determination, but our brain tells us to do what's easy or comfortable. Our own self-image and confidence may be very low due to our physical condition, as there is a very strong mind and body connection and our thoughts will align with what our physicality, unless we do something to change that. How many times have you tried or known others that have tried diet after diet after diet and quit every time before any progress was even made? It's because their intergame has not been won yet.

Speaker 1:

Your physical condition, for the most part, is a direct result of the choices you've made on a daily basis and, as I said earlier, your thoughts dictate your actions and your actions drive your results. I know there are some genetics in play for some, but most of us have 100% control over our physical condition. I've been out of shape and I've been in shape at various points in my life and I 100% prefer to stay in shape for how it affects my energy, my thoughts and my creativity. Ask anybody that walks daily. They'll tell you how much more active and creative their brain is while they're walking. So just start by committing to a small change in your exercise or healthier eating. If you stick to it and why not? Right You'll start mastering that intergame and the confidence you'll gain by making those choices to improve yourself will lead to better thinking and more productive decisions. And number three curate your environment.

Speaker 1:

Your environment, the inputs you're exposed to, like news, media, social media, television, your job, your home, and the people around you your family, friends and coworkers have a massive impact, influence on your thinking every single day, probably more than anything else. The media alone, whether it's TV or local or national news, probably does more damage to our thinking than you'd ever believe. Their constant negativity, putting spotlight on every bad thing that happens in our world and then emphasizing what catastrophe they think is going to happen next, keeps us scared and playing small, afraid to make any moves. Social media is poisoning our minds with every single scroll, making us feel less than the rest of the world, killing any confidence we may have and teaching our young that the only way you'll have any value in our society is to post something online. The constant negative beating we take 24-7 is enough to make it impossible for us to master the inner world when all we seem to do is compare ourselves to total and unrealistic strangers online.

Speaker 1:

The people who are around most also have an immense impact on our thoughts and what we do or don't do. If you have those that are close to you constantly bitching and complaining about everything, always dump in their garbage in your ears it piles up. It can make it very difficult to have positive thoughts or move forward. You may have friends or even family that are always criticizing you or others around you for what they're doing, and it can take its toll quickly. Here's a hint never tell a big goal to a small minded person. They can kill it instantly. Working in an unfulfilling job or in a negative work atmosphere with depressed coworkers can sap your energy and make it tough to have a positive attitude or think growth. If you want to master the inner world when it comes to your environment, this can be very simple, but also might be a little painful.

Speaker 1:

Start by turning off the news, and I mean all of it. Many of us have the habit of starting the day with the morning news or ending it with the evening news, which this is not healthy, nor does it help. You have you ever watched the news and said to yourself man, I'm so glad I didn't miss that newscast. I feel incredible, I feel inspired. I needed that boost? Hell, no, you don't. All it does is make you feel like the world will surely end soon and you're going to get screwed no matter what you do. Right, turn that shit off. Same thing with social media. Just stop scrolling. If you need to take a book or magazine to the bathroom with you and leave your phone elsewhere for a start. Stop starting and ending your day scrolling through Facebook and Instagram. Try music in the morning or audio books in the evening. I have a rule that I set with myself I don't touch my phone except to put music on to exercise with. For the first hour and a half of every morning, I don't look at social media. I don't look at any messages. I don't look at any emails none of it, at least for the first hour and a half.

Speaker 1:

The most painful move you may need to make is eliminating some of those negative, critical friends or relatives. If it's someone in your family, you can't really cut them out, but you can definitely spend less time around them for sure. Listen, if you want some positive change in the quality of your thoughts, you want to go after more in your life and not be held hostage by your limiting beliefs. You will have to make some adjustments to those key factors that influence your thinking. That is the only way through. You have no limits on how far you can expand your desires and dreams in your life. The key really lies in your thoughts and mastering that inner world.

Speaker 1:

Try making this small shift in perspective. How about if we think life happens for us and it doesn't happen to us? We will never be able to master or even have minor control over the outer world. Shit's still going to happen that screws us up or throws roadblocks in front of us. Wars and civil unrest will always be present. Natural disasters will continue to disrupt our lives and our lives will constantly change and evolve. That's just the way it's always been. But absolutely we have 100% control over how we react, our thoughts, our actions and our results, that inner world and that's the part that makes things happen for us.

Speaker 1:

We may have to make some changes and adjustments for those key influences to get there, but that is in our control as well and so worth the effort, wouldn't you agree? Well, that's all I had for you today. Thanks again for tuning in. I really appreciate your support and I hope you have a great week.
